Merrill Police Department reports

November 10
11:13 p.m.- Officer went to an address in the 300 block of Genessee Street to attempt to arrest a female with an active warrant. After making contact with the female suspect’s father, it was found that female was not home. A records check revealed a warrant for the father’s arrest as well. The male was arrested and taken to the jail.

2:58 p.m.- A male was arrested for a Probation Violation and was taken to the jail.

4:20 p.m.- Officers investigated the theft of an ATV in the 300 block of Riverside Avenue. The ATV had been taken off of a trailer at the residence. Officers took a second report of an attempted ATV theft, however, the ATV was recovered a short distance away from the residence by the owner. The Merrill Police Department wants to remind the community to keep their vehicles and residence locked. Also, make sure that the keys for any motor vehicles are locked away in a secure place.
November 11
10:57 a.m.- A female turned herself in at the PD for a warrant. She was taken to jail for the Merrill warrant.
11:12 a.m.- A Lincoln County deputy investigating a separate matter discovered a stolen chainsaw which was stolen from a garage in the city. Investigation continues.
12:16 p.m.- A caller reported he observed a male spray his dogs with something as he walked past his residence. He quickly learned the spray was cologne. The caller knew the suspect by nickname and the officers were familiar with the individual. He will be cited for disorderly conduct.
6:06 p.m.- Several callers reported a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on North Center Avenoe at East 7th Street. Officers collected evidence, obtained witness statements, and completed a crash report. This crash is under further investigation.
November 12
2:46 p.m.- A caller reported someone had stolen a four wheeler out of her yard. Her boyfriend observed one matching in the neighbor’s yard. The four wheeler was recovered in the neighboring yard. It is unknown who moved it there or for what purpose. The caller confirmed no damage or missing parts.
7:46 p.m.- An officer was assisting a Probation & Parole agent in conducting home visits. One probationer was observed in his yard drinking a beer which is in violation of his probation rules. He was arrested for the probation violation.
10:52 p.m.- An officer stopped a moped for an equipment violation. The vehicle didn’t immediately stop and it was determined the throttle on the moped was sticking preventing this. The driver displayed characteristics of intoxication. Field tests were started and the driver then opted to not complete them. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated (3rd offense). He was also found to have put a registration plate on the moped from a different vehicle. He was further found to have a revoked driver’s license and a warrant for his arrest through Marathon County. A search of him revealed suspected marijuana in his pocket. He had also tossed a butterfly style knife in the grass after being stopped. He was arrested for multiple charges.
