Luella Fleischman

Luella Fleischman, of Antigo, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Care Partners under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 83 years old. She was born on May 31, 1932 in town of Harrison, Marathon County, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Emma (Reiminger) Fleischman.

At the age of two she moved with her parents to the town of Vilas and lived there her entire life. Miss Fleischman graduated from the Forest View Grade School in the town of Vilas and attended Langlade County Normal School. She was a 1950 graduate of Antigo High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and received her Bachelors Degree. She continued her education receiving a Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Superior.

Miss Fleischman taught 44 years, all in the town of Peck. She taught one room schools, Badger and Blue Bell. After consolidation into the Unified School District of Antigo she taught fourth grade at River Grove School for 33 years and was principal for 29 years retiring in 1993.

She was a life member of St. John Catholic Church in Antigo and substitute taught religious education classes at St. Johns for several years.

She was a member of the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, National Association of Elementary School Principals, AARP, Langlade County Area Retired Educators Association, Wisconsin Retired Educators Association and Langlade County Teachers College Alumni Association.

She was a 4-H leader in Langlade County for many years and volunteered at the Langlade County Fair for 56 years, in the vegetable department. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, painting, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, reading, listening to polka and country western music, attending concerts and plays, raising house plants and flowers, feeding the birds, and most of all spending time with family and great nieces and nephews.

Survivors include sister-in-law, Beverly Fleischman; niece, Teresa (Andy) Krusenstern; nephews, Tom (Cheryl) Fleischman and Tim (Sarah) Fleischman; great nieces and nephews, Jimmy and Jessica Krusensterna, Jacob, Abi, Eli and Grace Fleischman all of Gleason.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vernon Fleischman.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. all at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo. A parish wake service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was a loving and caring sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and will be sadly missed by all.
