October 16
11:16 p.m.- An officer located a male who had an active warrant for his arrest on Cleveland Street at 5th Street. The male was arrested and taken to the jail.
1:42 a.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver performed field sobriety tests and was found to be impaired. The driver gave a preliminary breath test of .19. The driver was arrested for OWI 1st offense.
October 17
9:03 a.m.- An officer responded to a retail theft on Center Avenue. The officer confronted the suspect about the theft and the suspect became disorderly. The suspect attempted to leave and was stopped by the officer. The suspect punched the officer, causing injuries to the officer. The suspect continued to resist and the officer deployed the taser. The suspect was taken into custody for Battery to Law Enforcement, Disorderly Conduct and Retail Theft.
October 18
3:47 p.m.- Officers investigated a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of Prospect Street. The male suspect will be charged with domestic related battery.
5:08 p.m.- Officers investigated a theft complaint in the 500 block of Pine Ridge Avenue. As a result, two females were cited for retail theft. One of the females was arrested and transported to the jail for an active warrant.
6:57 p.m.- Officers responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 400 block of East 6th Street. As a result, a male was arrested and transported to the jail for possession of marijuana, misdemeanor bail jumping and felony bail jumping.
October 19
8:56 p.m.- A caller reported he discovered someone stole numerous items from his storage area at an apartment complex.
9:23 p.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver was found to have a revoked driver’s license and two warrants for his arrest through Merrill PD. He was cited for operating after revocation (6th offense) and arrested for the warrants and a probation violation.
October 20
9:02 a.m.- A truck had caused damage to a canopy at a business. The officer will complete a crash report.
1:02 p.m.- A caller reported a couple of young males acting suspiciously in his neighborhood. He observed them enter a vehicle and then leave the area on foot. An officer located the 16-year-old and 17-year-old males in the area. They admitted to entering four vehicles to steal cigarettes and/or money. One was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after he was found to have a marijuana grinder in his pocket, truancy and disorderly conduct. The other will be referred for truancy and attempted theft as a party to the crime. They were taken back to school.
2:22 p.m.- A male spoke with the city attorney about an incident involving the neighbor the previous night. He reported he heard an explosion and observed the neighbor boy run into his residence. He stated he found the young man had made a Molotov cocktail and lit it on fire in front of his residence. He put the fire out and cleaned up broken glass from the bottle. The officer will be meeting with the young man and his parent(s).
4:43 p.m.- A caller reported someone lost control of their vehicle in a parking lot striking several vehicles. The officer found the driver had attempted to leave a parking spot by backing up. The driver reported the brakes would not respond causing him to drive through a lawn and strike two vehicles in the parking lot one of which struck the vehicle beside it. A crash report was completed. It is suspected the driver had been pressing the accelerator rather than the brake.
5:39 p.m.- A female made contact with an officer on patrol to report the previous week she observed someone peering through her window at her residence at 3 a.m. She had no description of the person.
8 p.m.- A caller reported receiving information that there was a physical domestic dispute occurring at an address in Merrill. Officers responded and investigated. The female agreed to leave the residence as her brother had agreed to pick her up. She continued being loud and using vulgarities toward her boyfriend. She was warned numerous times to cease her behavior. She left the residence on foot and once outside continued yelling obscenities at which point she was arrested for disorderly conduct.
October 21
4:48 p.m.- An officer investigated a retail theft in the 300 block of East 2nd Street. As a result, a male was cited for retail theft.
8:30 p.m.- Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Elm Street. As a result, a male was arrested on a valid warrant.
