Elsie M. Bade

Elsie M. Bade, 100, of Merrill, died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Elsie was born April 11, 1915, in the town of Corning, daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Hass) Schmidt. She married Clarence Bade on January 18, 1936. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2006. Elsie and Clarence diary farmed in the town of Scott until their retirement. They both enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Elsie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, and was a long time member of both the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild of the church. Elsie had a great love for her family and enjoyed preparing festival meals for the holidays.
Survivors include daughters Ethel Natzke and Joyce (Melvin) Klebenow, both of Merrill; her sons, Harvey (Ardell) of Athens and Roger (Darlene) Bade of Merrill; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; her sister, Selma Adams of Merrill; and a sister in law, Leona Schmidt of Merrill. Besides her husband and parents, Elsie is preceded in death by her son in law, Harold Natzke; sisters Lillian Zimmerman, Laura Hahn, and Dorothea Kleinschmidt; and brothers Elmer, Norman, Rueben, Alfred, Fritz, and Arthur, Jr.
The family would like to thank Debbie and her staff at Woodland Court for the excellent ‘family style’ care given to Elsie the past three years.
The funeral will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 30, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Joel Hoelter will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, town of Scott. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again after 9:00 AM Friday at the church.
