The Annual Chili Blast Cook-off will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26 in downtown Merrill from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. There will be seven chili cooks competing this year. The cooks will be scattered downtown in front of businesses along East Main Street and East First Street. Several competitors are returning again to try and win this annual competition.
Tickets to taste these great chilis are $5 per person and can be purchased ahead of time at the Merrill Chamber of Commerce office located at 705 N. Center Ave. or on the day of the competition in front Merrill Ace Hardware.
This year’s cooks include Jim Medley located in front of Ye Old Shoppe; Kurt Wendt located in front of Merrill Ace Hardware; First Street Coffee Shop; Skipper’s Restaurant on the patio; Ed & Sharon’s Restaurant in front of Johnson’s Gifts and Collectibles; and Victory Lane in front of Courtside Furniture will be serving up two kinds of chili. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite chili and three place awards will be presented.
