Phyllis Mae Schlueter

Phyllis Mae Schlueter passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on her 89th birthday. Phyllis was born September 9, 1926 to Leslie and Ella (Jaeger) Sabatke in Merrill, WI. Phyllis married Raymond Schlueter on March 18, 1944 at St. Stephen’s Church. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1998.
Phyllis worked seasonal jobs with Peterson Wreaths and the canning factory. She also worked at Anson & Gilkey and had many cleaning jobs. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Attending family gatherings was a big part of her life. She embroidered dish towels for the grandchildren for Christmas. Phyllis loved shopping and going to craft shows in search of her next favorite piece of jewelry. She kept a very neat and tidy home. Phyllis had a green thumb and loved her plants and flowers. Her favorites were hibiscus and geraniums.
Phyllis is survived by her son: Randy (Vivian) Schlueter, Merrill, WI; daughter: Cheryl (Kelly) Kloss, River Falls, WI; daughter-in-law; Valerie Schlueter, Merrill, WI; grandchildren: Jay (Beth) Schlueter, Jeremy Schlueter, both of Merrill, Todd (Sherri) Mohr, Eagle River, Angie (Todd) Johnson, Aimee (Mike) Gennrich, both of Merrill, Molly Kloss of River Falls, and Lindsay (Greg Schultz) Kloss of Woodruff; 17 great grandchildren; sister: Mary Ann (Donald) Forester, Merrill; 3 brothers: LaVern (Diane) Sabatke, Leslie (Pearl) Sabatke, Larry (Lois) Sabatke, all of Merrill; sister-in-law, Shirley (Alan) Olkives; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Schlueter; daughter, Carol Schlueter; son, Gary Schlueter; granddaughter, Rebecca Dorgan; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice & Lylas Berndt; and 2 brothers, Clifford Sabatke and Jack (Jenny) Sabatke.
A Funeral Service for Phyllis will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 12:00 noon at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Merrill, WI. Rev. Kyle Carnes will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
