Local man garners multiple felony charges after bout with officers

Thursday afternoon, officers responded to a local tavern, after receiving information of a male party consuming alcohol in violation of bond conditions.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male identified as 43 year old William Morgan of Merrill.
According to officer notes, Morgan was compliant with officers at first and began to voluntarily exit the tavern.
Morgan then reportedly attempted to return to the tavern and became resistive with officers, fleeing via the rear entrance of the tavern. Officers pursued Morgan and deployed a TASER in an attempt to take Morgan into custody.
Morgan continued to resist officers at which point another cycle of the electronic device was used.
According to further notes from officers on-scene, Morgan remained resistive and was able to break free, dislodge the wire probes from the device and flee on foot before slipping and falling a short time later on Grand Avenue, at which point he was successfully taken into custody.
Upon a search of Morgan’s person, numerous items of drug paraphernalia were discovered as well as a quantity of Methamphetamine.
As a result, Morgan was taken into custody on numerous charges including; Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, four Felony Bail Jumping charges as well as Misdemeanor charges of Resisting/Obstructing an Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Morgan appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court on Friday morning facing all charges. As of Wednesday morning he remains in the Lincoln County Jail on $2,500 cash bond.
