Russell S. Cottrell, age 84, of Gleason, died Friday, August 21, 2015, at his home.
Russell was born April 10, 1931, in Tomahawk, son of the late Earl and Adella (Stevenson) Cottrell. He married Patricia Stefanez on June 18, 1949. She survives. Russell was a graduate of Merrill High School. He retired from Kusel Equipment Co. as their sales and marketing manager. He did extensive traveling throughout the United States and made many friends wherever he went. Russell loved hunting and fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. He had a great love for his family and liked spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russ and his wife loved living in the woods and enjoyed God’s handiwork.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Cottrell of Gleason; his daughter, Pastor Kathleen (Lon) Jury of Black River Falls; his son, Christopher Cottrell of Gleason; ten grandchildren, Brett Jury, Jason Jury, Heidi Loomis, Melissa Blaine, Amanda Cottrell, Stephanie Gooding, Bobbie Lynn Cottrell, Alson Cottrell, Shauna Cottrell, and Danny Cottrell; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Earlene (Don) Stephanelli; his sister-in-law, Delores Cottrell; his brother-in-law, Dennis Krueger; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his loving cat, Sidney. Russ was preceded in death by his son, Steven Cottrell; his parents, Earl and Adella Cottrell; his sister, Bonnie Krueger; his brother, Gary Cottrell; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Leone Stefanez.
The memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
