Merrill Police Department reports

August 2
3:34 a.m.- Officers responded to a report of intoxicated female entering another party’s home. The female was identified and found to be under the age of 21. She received medical care due to her high level of intoxication. She was cleared by medical staff and issued a citation for underage drinking.
6:05 p.m.- Officers located an intoxicated female passed out face down in an alley way. The female was identified and walked home to her residence.
8:08 p.m.- Officers responded to Walmart to assist two parties in a dispute over library materials. The parties were advised to resolve the issue between them and that at this point the conflict was not criminal in nature.
August 3
4:06 p.m.- Officers responded to assist a female party that recently became homeless. Officer assisted in collecting and transporting the female party and her property to a new temporary location until the female can find permanent residence.
6:05 p.m.- Officers responded to Culvers to assist in removing a male party from the establishment. Officers made contact with the man who indicated he was homeless and in need of travel assistance. A Lincoln County Deputy provided the individual with a ride to the area of Brokaw to assist the individual in reaching his desired destination.
9:08 p.m.- Officers responded to check the welfare of a female party the caller believed to be intoxicated. Officers located the female and she was transferred to a responsible party for care due to her high level of intoxication.
10:24 p.m.- Officers responded to the intersection of East 6th & Sales streets for a report of a female party in the roadway naked. Officers were unable to locate the female party in the area.
August 4
11:03 p.m.- Officers on routine foot patrol located a downtown business with its front door unlocked. Officers checked the business and found no evidence of a crime having occurred. The owner was contacted and the business was secured.
11:02 a.m.- Officer responded to an attempted burglary at a west side business. Officers detected tool marks on the door hinges. Officers and owners determined that entry was not made into business.
7 p.m.- Officers investigated a complaint of a possible craigslist scam. The investigation found that no crime was committed to this point. The caller was advised of actions that can be taken to avoid future scam attempts and to report any further concerns that may develop.
10:19 p.m.- Officers responded to locate an intoxicated female. Female was not located but officers were informed that during the course of the search the female had snuck into a nearby apartment. Officers attempted contact at the apartment but were unable to make contact with the residence.
11:05 p.m.- Officers responded to a complaint of dogs barking and a family yelling and swearing. Contact was made with a male individual at the residence. The family was warned for the noise level and unrestrained animals. Male party was found to have an active warrant through Lincoln County Sherriff’s Office and was taken into custody.
11:50 p.m.- Officers responded to a complaint of people fighting in the stairwell of a residence. It was found that the parties were having a verbal argument not a physical confrontation. The parties were warned for the noise violation.
August 5
7:09 a.m.- A caller reported he had dug up some bones from his yard. He was uncertain if they were animal or human. An officer discovered the bones were animal.
12:33 p.m.- A caller reported sometime in the past week someone had vandalized his business with paintballs. The officer was able to determine a potential suspect and investigation continues.
August 6
12:01 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
12:49 p.m.- A caller reported being harassed by a male. This male is not to have contact with the caller as part of his probation rules. Additionally the man has numerous complaints against him for unwanted contact and harassment against the caller. The man was located and found to have been drinking, which is also against his probation rules. He was arrested for a probation violation. A charge of stalking and bail jumping is likely forthcoming as well.
August 7
12:07 a.m.- A caller reported a male individual walking in the middle of the road. Male was located and found to have been warned for obstructing the roadway before. Male individual was issued a citation for obstructing the roadway.
3:37 p.m.- A caller reported that within the last four to five days their vehicle had been entered. It was determined that the vehicle was unlocked during that time. An officer responded and identified damage to the vehicle under the steering wheel and glove box.
August 8
Officer responded to a residence for a report of a theft from the residence. Investigating officer found that a .22 rifle and $200 in cash were stolen from the residence.
August 9
1:38 p.m.- Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of E. 5th St. in regards to a domestic situation. The involved male reportedly had left the residence with a small child with intentions to head to Tomahawk. Officers located the male party in a vehicle which had left the scene and found the male held a suspended driving status. Upon investigating the original domestic incident, officers learned the altercation was largely verbal. However the male had damaged some items at the residence during the course of the argument. The male party was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
2:56 p.m.- Officers responded to WalMart for a report of two adult females caught shoplifting by asset protection staff. The females were uncooperative with the WalMart staff, with one leaving the store prior to police arrival. This female was located by officers in the 3300 block of E. Main St. and arrested for shoplifting, trespassing, bail jumping and an open warrant through probation and parole. The female who remained on scene was arrested for shoplifting and bail jumping.
4:54 p.m.- Officers responded to WalMart for a report of a shoplifter. The adult female shoplifter had been caught by asset protection staff stealing a toy wand and a stuffed Sponge Bob Square Pants figurine. The shoplifter was cited and released.
7:51 p.m.- Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Foster Street in regards to a reported domestic incident. Upon arrival officers determined that the reported domestic incident was a female resident who had been yelling due to frustration over issues with her computer not connecting with her internet service.
