Michael E. Morrison

Michael E. Morrison, age 71, of Merrill, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was born April 16, 1944 in Merrill to the late Emery and Phyllis (Schuman) Morrison.
Mike was a 1962 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. He served in the Army for 6 years and was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran. Mike worked at Walmart until his retirement. He was known as a jack of all trades and had even owned his own mechanic garage at one time. Mike had a great green thumb and enjoyed keeping vegetable and flower gardens. He especially enjoyed his and Dianne’s Labradors whom he played many games of fetch with over the years. Mike enjoyed hunting and always said he’d go fishing but never did. He enjoyed traveling out west to Utah, Mount Rushmore and Bryce Canyon and visiting family in Texas and North Carolina. Mike loved going out to eat and was a very generous, loving man. He was a big jokster and all around fun person to spend time with and because of this he was very well loved. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Dianne and his dogs, who were very important to him.
Survivors include the love of his life: Dianne Belling, Merrill; son: Jack (Sheila) Morrison, Arkansas; daughter: Nicole (Jerry) Mitchell, Texas; four sisters: Phyllis (Herman) Meyer, Patricia (Harold) Schulz, all of Merrill, Mary (Tom) Jodarski, Mauston, WI and Julia (Steve) Vigue, Center ND; nine grandchildren: Skylar, Jaxson, Clint, April, Kyla, Michelle, Misty, Kelly and Brittany; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He is further survived by Dianne’s children: Dewey, Dan, Dawn and Darren; and her five grandchildren: Amber, J.R., Gary, Kyle and Kory; her great-grandson: Nile II; and their beloved Labradors: Sonny, Pal & Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Peter Morrison and one granddaughter, Page.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Waid Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service also at the funeral home. Waid Funeral Home of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
