A 21-year-old Merrill man was taken into custody last Monday morning after a vehicle left the roadway in the Town of Rock Falls. Just before 8 a.m., cell callers reported a vehicle had left the roadway on US Hwy. 51 just south of County Rd. H. When deputies arrived they noted the driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment by drugs. A Merrill Police Officer specially trained in recognizing drug impaired drivers came to the scene and conducted an evaluation before the man was taken into custody for a first offense of driving a vehicle while under the influence. Additional charges may be forthcoming as deputies located items that appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Those have been sent to the state crime lab for further evaluation. The driver was later released to a responsible party.
A 63-year-old Tomahawk woman was arrested Tuesday evening on a federal warrant charging her with wire fraud and money laundering. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle the woman was a passenger in after running a query on the license plate and learning the woman was wanted by the FBI. The traffic stop took place at County Rd. CC and Mark Street in the City of Tomahawk just before 10 p.m. The woman was taken into custody after federal authorities confirmed the want. On Wednesday the woman was released to the US Marshal Service.
A 17-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested early Wednesday morning by Lincoln County Deputies who were assisting Oneida County. Deputies from Oneida County requested that Lincoln County Deputies check a residence on Tannery Road in the Town of Bradley for the man who they were seeking on charges of battery and obstructing an officer. At around 12:30 a.m., deputies located the man at the residence and took him into custody. He was taken to the county line where he was turned over to Oneida County authorities.
A 27-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested early Sunday morning on a probation violation charge. A deputy stopped a vehicle on County Rd. A on the north side of Tomahawk just before 3 a.m. after noting the registration was expired. When contact was made with the passenger it was found he was drinking in violation of his probation rules. The man was taken into custody and brought to the Lincoln County Jail and held.
Eleven people reported striking deer this past week. A Tomahawk man escaped injury after striking a deer on Wednesday on State Rd 107 north of County Rd E with his motorcycle. And a bear cub was found struck early Saturday morning on County Rd C just east of State Rd 17.
