Our family will be having our 3rd annual Remembering Kyle Memorial Scholarship ~ Night of Music & Sounds event on Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m., at the PRMS auditorium (not at MHS, as we’ve had before). This event is a musical performance scholarship fundraising event held in memory of my wife’s four-year old little boy, and our three other boys’ beloved brother, Kyle, who died of leukemia. At this event we will honor our 2015 MHS graduating scholarship applicants, recipients and their families and like we have for our two former years, we will also honor current cancer warrior/warriors, too. The criteria for this scholarship is a tough one in that either the student, their sibling or their parent has met the cancer beast face-to-face. Unfortunately, it has been “easy” for many MHS students to meet that criteria the past three years.
Our family knows first hand the emotional and financial difficulties that come when cancer enters lives. The effects are many, and in some cases endless, especially when the outcome is the loss of a loved one. So, the Remembering Kyle Memorial Scholarship was established for MHS graduates to help them in the area of their college education, but most of all to let them and their families know that we have a wonderful, caring community that supports them on their journey! So, please join us in raising money for this very special cause. Our event will showcase the amazing volunteerism and talents of many local performers and volunteers who have generously donated their time and talent for this event… and in most cases they have done so for our two previous events as well!
The past two years’ event proceeds have enabled our family to award 10 scholarships to all 10 of our applicants! This year there are four applicants who we hope to do the same for!
Starting July 1, pre-event tickets can be purchased at both Merrill River Valley Banks, Dave’s County Market and Piggly Wiggly, or can be purchased at the PRMS ticket booth on event day, too. Tickets are remaining affordable for all at a price of $3 for children and students and $5 for adults or non-students. Of course, larger ticket dollar donations will be accepted and appreciated!
