Jody Malsack has relocated her business, Again and Again, from Wausau to her hometown of Merrill.
Again and Again is a resale shop located at 804 E. First St. The business also holds online auctions at againandaganauctions.net.
The business is set up so the online auction items can be viewed in person during the two-week auctions, the first of which is just wrapping up and the second will start on June 2. The current auction features 400 items. The auctions run for one week, Sunday to Sunday, and start every other week. Bidders can register to bid on items; winners will receive an email invoice and can pick up their items at the store. Again and Again will do consignment items in the online auctions. The upcoming auction will feature some higher end items, such as Lionel trains and vintage bicycles.
Items that don’t sell on the auctions may be relisted, put into the retail store or donated.
Malsack operated Again and Again as a resale shop in downtown Wausau for three years, but this is her first time running online auctions. Malsack realizes that people enjoy being able to participate in online auctions over the internet.
“Online auctions are fun,” she said. “I do them myself; you can get good deals online.”
A lot of the items on the auction start at an opening bid of $1. People can place their bids and then monitor the auction to see anyone else is trying to outbid them.
“You can get a real good deal if you keep your eye on things,” Malsack said.
Malsack is always looking for new and unique items to add to her inventory. She spends a lot of time at auctions and estate sales to find merchandise. She also welcomes people to come to the shop with items they are interested in selling, or will come to them to look.
She has participated in flea markets for years and runs the flea market at Merrill Airport Days. Malsack has been buying and selling on eBay for 20 years and has a 100% rating. Even with her vast experience in the resale business, Malsack said she runs into items all the time that are new to her.
“I will do my best to find out what things are worth,” she said.
The retail shop carries a mix of merchandise including antiques, collectibles, furniture and books.
“I like to specialize in unique items,” Malsack said. “I also like to keep prices reasonable so anyone can come in and buy items.”
Malsack opened the store in Merrill on May 5.
“I came back to Merrill because it’s my hometown,” Malsack said. “Also, I wanted to bring something to Merrill that they don’t have. Merrill hasn’t had online auctions before.”
By bringing her business to Merrill, Malsack said she’s making a commitment to the town she’s called home for the past 26 years.
“I’m trying to get involved with the community and make a difference,” she said. “Because Merrill’s my home, it’s up to me to make it better.”
