Two arrested in drug bust

Merrill police executed a search warrant in the 400 block of East 6th Street Monday afternoon, April 20. As a result, two male were arrested after numerous items of paraphernalia were located, along with marijuana and prescription pills.
Arrested were Michael R. Renkas, 18, and Jordan J. Kautz, 18, both residents of 404 E. 6th St. Renkas is charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of marijuana and two counts of felony bail jumping. After an initial appearance in Lincoln County Circuit Court, bond was set at $500 cash and $7,500 signature. Kautz is charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia (repeater). The bond for Kautz was set at $5,000 signature.
Merrill police went to the home on Monday to investigate Crime Stoppers and citizen complaints of possible drug trafficking. When officers came to the door, they noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from inside and a number of people ran out of the house. According to an officer’s report, the individuals present said they were coming to the house to smoke marijuana. One said they purchased marijuana at the house.
Police obtained a search warrant and found a large quantity of paraphernalia as well as marijuana in the home.
