Shirley L. Urlis, age 86, of Irma, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Shirley was born May 4, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Huburt and Elisabeth (Glosa) Schauer. She married Albert Urlis on May 9, 1959, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1995. Shirley had been an Inspector with AT&T in Chicago. Shirley was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Irma, and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Irma Lions Club, the ‘Red Hatters’, and the Christian Women’s Club. Shirley enjoyed cooking, visiting family in Illinois, and spending holidays with friends in the Irma and Merrill area.
Survivors include her step grandson, Allan G. Urlis; three step great grandchildren, Hannah, Adam, and Samantha; her brother, Jack Schauer of Illinois; and other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her step son and step daughter in law, Allan and Lois Urlis; a step grandson, John; and one sister.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Irma. The Rev. Hans J. Heisinger will officiate. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Town of Birch. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Youth Group.
