Late Night Snack,Early Morning Arrest

Thursday night, an officer responded to a reported theft at a local store.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a store employee who indicated a male had been in the store for approximately 45 minutes. During that time, the male consumed a cup of coffee and a cheeseburger. However when the male was about to leave without paying for the items, the male reportedly informed the employee the cheeseburger had been retrieved from a dumpster.

The male further stated he did not have money for the cup of coffee.
According to officer notes, the male had departed prior to officer arrival.
Eight hours later on Friday morning, the same store requested police assistance after the same male had returned and consumed another cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich.
Responding officers identified the male as 21-year-old Chad A. Charbarneau Jr. of Merrill, and took him into custody on a charge of retail theft.
During a search of Charbarneau’s person, marijuana was discovered as well as drug paraphernalia. As a result, misdemeanor charges of Possession of THC and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia were added.
