Company seeks annexation for John Deere dealership

The Merrill Common Council will consider an annexation petition from Nortrax, Inc. when it meets Tuesday. Nortrax has purchased 31 acres between Big Eddy Road and Hwy. 51 for the purpose of constructing a 20,000-square-foot John Deere Construction & Forestry retail dealership.
According to Nortrax’s letter to the city requesting annexation, the facility will employ functional parts, service and sales employees as well as serve as the dispatch center for field service technicians and territory sales representatives. Nortrax operates 54 similar dealerships throughout the U.S. and Canada.
According to the Common Council agenda, the annexation petition will be referred to the City Plan Commission and the Board of Public Works.
