Phyllis June Jacobson, age 90, passed away March 3rd, 2015 with her family at her side, at Wausau Manor, while under the care of Aspirus Hospice. She was born to Reinhold and Cecil (Munro) Schulz, on June 3, 1924, in Merrill, Wisconsin. She attended Irma State Graded School and graduated from Merrill High School. She was married to Norman (Jake) Jacobson, February 1, 1944. They were married for 68 years. Phyllis was a housewife who also worked with her husband Jake at Irma Oil Company, which they owned for a number of years. After retirement they enjoyed camping and traveling with many friends. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Merrill and served with their Ladies Aid for many years. Phyllis was a caring and devoted Mother and Grandmother and will be dearly missed. Surviving are children, Mary Kay Van Der Geest, Merrill, David Alan (Sandra) Jacobson, West Bend, Wisconsin; six grandchildren: Amy Jo (Jeff) Butler, Cosby, Missouri, Lee (Katie) Van Der Geest, Beth (Gabe) Gwaltney, Carthage, Missouri, Ann (Sunil Matte) Jacobson, Arlington, VA, Kyle (Madeleine) Jacobson, Milwaukee, WI, Emily Jacobson, Washington DC, sister-in-law, Jean Schulz, Merrill, WI and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake, Brother, Donald Schulz, Sisters, Shirley and Dorothy Ellen Schulz and son-in-law, Gary Van Der Geest.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:00PM, at the Waid Funeral Home chapel. Pastor Jess Wakefield will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00AM and continue until the time of service, also held at the Waid Funeral Home chapel. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff who cared for her while she was at Bell Towers and Wausau Manor, and the Aspirus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
