Lincoln County lights it up at state

Five out of the six Lincoln County wrestlers are still alive
after Thursday’s action at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling
Tournament.

Merrill junior Devon Schultz (120 pounds)
was pinned in the first match and his foe was flattened in the second
round to end his tournament. But seniors Scott Arneson (132) and Mason
Reinhardt (170) both captured a pair of matches to reach the third round
of the winner’s bracket with more to come Friday night. Arneson took his second match in dramatic fashion, scoring a takedown and back points in the final 30 seconds to win. Reinhardt dominated both his foes.

Tomahawk senior
Jake Borchardt (285) pinned his opponent in one of the night’s last
matches to join juniors Kaleb Kaminski (182) and brother Dane Borchardt
(220) in Friday’s action. Sectional champions in D2 and D3 skipped
Friday’s preliminaries. Jake was a runner-up and needed a Thursday win.

Bayfield’s Zach Anglin (106) was a huge inspiration to the packed house, winning by pin despite competing without hands or feet.
