Elaine H. Dahm

Elaine H. Dahm, 87, Merrill, passed away Friday February 6, 2015 at Woodland Court Assisted Living.
She was born August 7, 1927 to the late William and Agnes (Schmidtke) Hulke in Merrill.   
Elaine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  
She married LeRoy Dahm on 4/23/49. Elaine worked at Fanstill Corp. LeRoy served in the U.S. Navy stationed at several bases including Asmara, Eritrea, Africa where Elaine gave birth to their third child. The couple ultimately settled in Waukegan, IL, where Elaine was an elementary school secretary for over twelve years in the ‘60s and ‘70s.   
Elaine was a woman of many talents. She was active in girls’ athletics at Merrill High School.  She played on the Merrill-area “Glamour-Girl” Cardinals semi-professional softball team in the 1940’s posting 86 wins and 5 losses over six years.  Elaine was an excellent bowler; active in several leagues throughout her life and participated in a pro-am tournament in Kansas City.  She loved playing bridge and was a member of bridge clubs in Waukegan and Merrill.  She had a beautiful voice and was asked to perform at weddings and was active in church choirs while living in Africa and Waukegan.
Survivors include her daughters:  Laurie (Andrew) Segal of San Francisco, CA, Susan (Frank) Bilban of Frisco, TX and son Phil (Ruth) Dahm of Cupertino, CA, 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She is also survived by her sister Laura Murphy, and brothers Roger (Betty) Hulke, David (Shirley) Hulke, sister in-law Faye Hulke, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Irene, Alice, Emma and Vernette and brother Harlin.
Private services will be held.
The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
