Audrey A. Taylor

Audrey A. Taylor, age 90, of Merrill, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston. 
Audrey was born February 21, 1924, in Shawano, daughter of the late Marcus M. and Esther (Sprague) Keller.  She married Arthur E. ‘Bud’ Taylor, Jr. on October 9, 1949, in Birnamwood. He survives. Audrey was a graduate of Birnamwood High School in 1941, and was also graduated Cum Laude with a BM degree from the Conservatory of Music at Lawrence University. She taught high school band and chorus at various places including Hillsboro, Clintonville, and Merrill High School. Audrey taught part time at Holy Cross High School, Lincoln County Normal School, and St. John and Trinity grade schools, and also taught private piano lessons for many years.  Audrey was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Her interest in music led to directing the Lincoln County Homemaker’s Chorus, singing in the choir at church for many years, as well as participating in the church Bell Choir.  Audrey was a founding member of the Merrill Jaycettes, as well as the Hospital Volunteers, where she served in many offices. She was a member of the Hospital Foundation, president of the Board of Directors of Holy Cross Hospital, Secretary of Birch Trails Girl Scout Council, president and board member of the Merrill Concert Association, and active in St. John Lutheran Church committees and groups. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Study Class, Knit Wits, and the Cover to Cover Book Club. Audrey’s interests included traveling and Elderhosteling, golfing, skiing, fishing, bridge, and enjoying the out-of-doors at the family cottage at Three Lakes. 
Survivors include her husband, Arthur E. ‘Bud’ Taylor, Jr., Merrill; two sons, Dr. Mark (Georgie) Taylor, Montour Falls, New York, and Dr. Jack (Julia Welch) Taylor, Chapel Hills, North Carolina; and her granddaughter, Kyla Taylor of Durham, North Carolina. Besides her parents, Audrey is preceded in death by her daughter, Jane L. Taylor. 
The funeral will begin at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 26, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:30 A.M. Monday at the church. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are directed to the Lincoln County Humane Society.
