Venita Stevens, age 93, of Merrill, WI, died on January 2, 2015 at Bell Tower Residence. Venita was born on November 15, 1921 to Matthew and Magdalena (Boettcher) Jirovec in Merrill, WI. She met and fell in love with Carlen Stevens, whom she married on April 14, 1941. He preceded her in death September 3, 2014.
Venita and Carlen owned and operated Stevens Tractor & Implement for many years. After their retirement, she and Carlen spent much of their time at the cottage on Upper Kaubashine Lake in Hazelhurst, WI. Venita loved to play cards and belonged to a card club for 56 years. She was very active in St. Stephens Church.
Venita is survived by her three daughters; Nancy (Allen) Lohrbach of Cameron Park, CA, Carol Schwartz of Merrill and Julie Shank, Green Bay; grandchildren; Carla (Andy) Lefeber, Kelly (Jeff) Stebbeds and Katie Jarek, grandson; Richard (Rebecca) Jarek and great grandchildren; Madison Stebbeds, Wyatt Stebbeds and Kelsey Jarek. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carlen, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
A Memorial Service for Venita will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence. Rev. John Eldred will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of the service, also at Bell Tower. There will be a private gathering at the Scattering Garden in Merrill Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials be directed to the Children’s Shriners Hospital or St. Stephen’s UCC.
