Fatal snowmobile accident in Tomahawk

On Sunday at approximately 12:26 a.m. the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a report of a snowmobile crash off Collins Street on Lake Mohawksin in Tomahawk. When emergency crews arrived on scene, the victim, 41-year-old Jennifer D. Ambrose, was found to be lying on the ice, not breathing. Crews immediately began CPR and she was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk, where advanced life-saving measures were unsuccessful and she was later pronounced dead.
An investigation into the crash revealed that Ambrose was riding on the back of the first of three snowmobiles that were traveling on the ice. That snowmobile hit a bump and Ambrose was ejected from the sled, at which point she was struck by the second snowmobile.
Emergency crews that responded to the scene included Lincoln County EMS, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Tomahawk Police Department and Tomahawk Fire Department. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Wisconsin DNR, is continuing the investigation.
