Doris M. Kelm, age 91, a proud resident of Park Place, Merrill, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at her home under the care of her family and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Doris was born June 12, 1923, in the Town of Hamburg, Marathon County, daughter of the late Ernest and Nina (Mootz) Hartwig. She married Leonard W. Kelm on August 24, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1984. Doris was an active and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Her faith and her church were very important to her. Doris loved her family and friends. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, playing cards with family and friends, and spending time with her family at ‘camp’. Doris was a decorator at heart. She always had a positive outlook on life.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Maahs and Judy (Donald) Tucek both of Wausau; one son, Jeff (Debra) Kelm of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Scott Maahs of Nevada, Connie (Rob) Gustafson of Brantwood, Heidi (Pete) Llanes of Downey, CA, and Andrew Kelm stationed in Korea with the United States Air Force; one step grandson, Curtis (Kristen) Lupton of Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Larry (Sandy) Hartwig of Merrill. Doris also had many special friends at Park Place who cared for her and watched out for her. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Kelm; her parents, Ernest and Nina Hartwig; two grandsons, Grant Maahs and Baby Boy Tucek; her son-in-law, Walter Maahs, Jr.; and her sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Ellsworth Jaeger.
The funeral service for Doris will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
