James R. Dallmann

James R. Dallmann, age 52, of Merrill, and formerly of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, as a result of a brain tumor. He was surrounded by his loving family under hospice care. He was born July 9, 1962, in Tomahawk to the late William and Nancy (Greil) Dallmann. He was married to Sherryl Runge on July 7, 1984, in Tomahawk. She survives.
Jim was a 1980 graduate of Tomahawk High School. He attended North Central Technical College where he earned a welding degree. Jim worked at American State Equipment for 27 years as a certified welder and shop foreman. He also worked for the City of Merrill Parks and Recreation Department as an arena specialist. Jim cherished every moment spent with his family as they were very precious to him. He enjoyed hunting at the shack and fishing, especially his trip to Alaska with his sons and his father. Jim was very generous with his time and talents. While the ice was in at the Smith Center, Jim could be found maintaining the quality of the ice he was so proud of. As every young player dreams, he drove the Zamboni. He volunteered countless hours with Merrill Youth Hockey doing whatever needed to be done. Jim also volunteered his time with the Merrill Youth Hardball. He was well known for his grilling skills whether during a hockey tournament, baseball tournament or in his backyard.
Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sherryl Dallmann, of Merrill; two sons, Justyn Dallmann, of Plover, WI, and Josh Dallmann, of Merrill, WI; one brother, Jason Dallmann, of Berkeley, CA; one sister, Jenny (Al) Miner, of Irma, WI; his grandmother, Lorraine Westrich, of Tomahawk; his father’s wife, Pam Dallmann, of Tomahawk; and his mother-in-law, Janice Runge, of Boscobel, WI. He is further survived by his faithful granddog, “Elmo.”
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Butch; his mother, Nancy; his grandparents, Albert Greil, and William and Helen Dallmann; and father-in-law, Robert Runge.
Funeral services for James Dallmann will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 12 Noon from Bible Presbyterian Church in Merrill. Rev.
