Driver injured attempting to flee officers

A 51-year-old Warren, Minn. Man was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a one-vehicle accident in the town of Pine River Saturday night.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the accident happened around 8:38 p.m. Saturday. They say the driver was traveling along Highway 64 and tried to turn onto County Road W at an accelerated speed. Officials say the vehicle went into the ditch, overturned and struck a tree.
According to a report from Merrill Police, the vehicle had been pursued by law enforcement prior to the crash. At 8:32 p.m., a Merrill Police officer had observed the vehicle driving past City Hall at an estimated speed of 60 mph. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and pursued the vehicle, which had turned back eastbound. A Sheriff’s deputy took over the chase as it left the city east of town, with suspect speeds estimated at 80-90 mph. 
Following the crash at Hwy. 64 and Cty. W, the male driver was extracted from the vehicle by the Merrill Fire Department and transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
According to a Merrill Police report, the driver is suspected of OWI 4th+ offense as well as other pending criminal violations. 
The Wisconsin State Patrol, Merrill Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Pine River Fire Department and First responders responded to the scene.
According to officials, the driver was transported to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau with non-life-threatening injuries.
