Voter turnout over 70 percent in Lincoln County

Voter turnout in Lincoln County was over 71 percent for Tuesday mid-term general election.
All Lincoln County incumbents were re-elected without opposition, including Sheriff Jeff Jaeger, Coroner Paul Proulx and Clerk of Court Cindy Kimmons, all running on the Republican ticket.
For governor, the incumbent Republican ticket of Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch took Lincoln County by a 6,792-5,051 vote margin over Democratic challengers Mary Burke and John Lehman. Walker was the statewide winner as well with 52 percent of the votes.
Lincoln County voters also preferred Republican Brad Schimel over Democrat Susan V. Happ for Wisconsin Attorney General, 6,804 votes to 4,512. Schimel was declared the winner with 52 percent of votes statewide.
Republican challenger Julian Bradley narrowly edged out incumbent Wisconsin Secretary of State, Democrat Doug LaFollette in Lincoln County by a 5,625-5,478 margin. LaFollette took the statewide vote with 50 percent.
For state treasurer, Lincoln County voters gave the nod to Republican Matt Adamczyk, with 5,699 votes to Democrat David L. Sartori’s 4,780.  Incumbent Kurt Schuller did not seek re-election. Adamczyk was the narrow winner in the statewide vote.
For the 7th Congressional District seat, Republican incumbent Sean Duffy held his seat. In Lincoln County, Duffy garnered 6,998 votes to Democrat Kelly Westlund’s 4,734. Districtwide, Duffy took 59 percent of the vote.
For the 35th District state assembly seat, incumbent Republican Mary Czaja was re-elected without opposition.
Two referendum questions were on the ballot. The first asks whether the state should create a transportation fund and the second asks whether the state should accept federal Medicaid funds. On the transportation question, Lincoln County voted yes by a 9,444 to 1,766 margin. The Medicaid referendum, which was posed in 19 counties statewide, received 7,576 votes in favor in Lincoln County and 3,668 votes against. Statewide, the referendum had support from 74 percent of voters.
