Lorraine M. Riemer, age 87, of Hayward, WI passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
Lorraine May was born July 17, 1927 in Merrill, the daughter of Philip and Alice (Smith) Livermore. Lorraine was raised in Merrill and graduated from high school there. She worked for a short time and then met and was married to Lawrence Albert Riemer on May 10, 1947.
Lorraine and Lawrence moved to Hayward, WI in 1962. Lorraine was a very active member of the Hayward community. She was a member of Homemakers, Christians Women’s Club where she served as President. She became a Stonecroft Bible Study leader and hosted numerous bible study groups. Lorraine was instrumental in starting the Hayward Community Food Shelf in 1985 and served as its Chairman of the Board. She enjoyed reading, golfing, cross country skiing, swimming, hiking, sewing, collecting music and playing tennis. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Paul (Laurie) of Siren, WI, Andrew of Hayward, Bonita Biermier of Gleason, WI; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; three sisters, Leona Lindecker of Country Club Hills, IL, Wanda Meyer of Merrill, WI, Darlene Livermore of Salem, OR; one brother, Phillip (Jenny) Livermore of Wallace, NC; one sister-in-law, Joyce Livermore of White Bear Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband of 62 years, Lawrence; her parents and one brother, Roger Livermore.
A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating Lorraine’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward. Prior to the service on Saturday a time of gathering with family and friends will be held from 2-3 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hayward Food Shelf or Grace Lutheran Church.
