Last year, two local business owners teamed up to raise money for a local charity with their “Bags for a Cause” and this year will not be any different. Owners Heather Phelps (The Fresh Boutique) and Jen Mattson (To Your Health Market) are excited to announce that all profits for their 2014 bag sales will go to HAVEN in Merrill.
HAVEN is a very important part of our community and a much needed resource for some. Services at HAVEN include legal advocacy, sexual assault advocacy, children’s advocacy, 24-hour crisis line, batterer’s group (abusers service), among other services. In 2013 HAVEN served 248 people, of these 131 were domestic violence and 22 were sexual assaults.
“Bags for a Cause” go on sale Oct. 1. You can purchase your bags at To Your Health and The Fresh Boutique, they are first come first serve with only 100 bags being sold. The cost will be $15 per bag with 100% of the profits going to HAVEN. Each bag is accompanied by a coupon packet that has a retail value of over $300.
