Dale August Lambrecht

Dale August Lambrecht, 78, passed away on Sept. 17 at his home in Manitowoc, WI, with  family at his side, after a brief illness. 
He was born in Merrill on Aug. 15, 1936 to parents Harold W. and Sadie E. (Houston) Lambrecht. He graduated from Merrill High School and then proudly served five years in the U.S. Army where he rose to the rank of Sargent and served as a Military Policeman in occupied Japan. After he was honorably discharged he returned to Merrill where he was employed at Semling and Menke until he was hired by the Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department for whom he worked 28 years and was promoted to Supervisor. Dale enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid trout fisherman. He was a skilled woodworker and his furniture creations are prized by his children and grandchildren.
He spent his retirement years living in Manitowoc, where trips to the Oneida casino allowed him to meet with fellow retired co-workers. Many friends and family enjoyed his famous chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Dale enjoyed following the Packers, the Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers in basketball and football. Besides his grandchildren, his best friends were his cats.
Survivors include: his sons Thomas (Irene Shonle) of Rollinsville, CO and Timothy (Anne) and grandsons Jacob and John of Alma, MI, former spouses Chris Lambrecht and Jean A. King and step-children Kent  King and Laura Lee. Dale is also survived by sisters Lois (Darroll Wendorf), Janice (Ray Bloomfield), Diane (DuWayne Kleinschmidt) and brothers Dennis Lambrecht (Denise) and William Lambrecht (Mary).
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and eight of his siblings. He will be remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Cremation was carried out by Jens Family Funeral home and a small private family memorial is planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Lakeshore Humane Society, 1551 N 8th St, Manitowoc, WI 54220.
