The Holy Cross Sisters have announced the hiring of Pat Sherley as the new Administrator at Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living in Merrill. Sherley replaces Sister Peggy Jackelen, who is retiring from that ministry after 24 years.
Sherley is a native of Hudson, WI, where she began her career in hospice. She served as Director of Community Relations and helped build a new state of the art hospital and clinic in Hudson and worked for the Chamber of Commerce as Director of Communications and Programming. Most recently she served as administrator at Red Cedar Canyon Assisted Living in Hudson, a 69-apartment Assisted Living and CBRF. She and her husband Tom reside in Merrill.
“I was fortunate to find a faith based facility that had a rich history and was ready to meet future challenges,” Sherley said.
Sister Pat Cormack, provincial of the Holy Cross Sisters USA Province said the Board of Directors took great care in looking for someone to carry on the leadership.
“We wanted to insure that the mission of the Holy Cross Sisters and of Bell Tower Residence would be continued with dedication and care,” Sister Pat said. “We also looked for someone who embodied the compassion and respect for individuals that have inspired the various ministries of the Holy Cross Sisters since their arrival in Merrill in 1923.”
Sister Pat added, “As a Holy Cross Sister, Sister Peggy has given of herself for her entire 50 years as a sister. We are particularly grateful for her leadership in establishing Bell Tower Residence as an exemplary assisted living facility. She lives the compassion and love that we profess as sisters and this is evident in the way that she has related to residents, families and employees of Bell Tower Residence. I am extremely proud of and grateful for the direction that she has set and her dedication to furthering the mission of the Holy Cross Sisters and of Bell Tower Residence.”
In leaving her position, Sister Peggy said that great things happen when people work together as one.
“Throughout my years as administrator at Bell Tower I have tried to be faithful to a commitment I made 50 years ago – to make wherever I lived a better placem” she said. “The humbling reality is that this cannot happen alone, but requires the assistance of others. I have been fortunate to minister with many dedicated individuals.”
