Car, semi collide on Hwy. 51

On Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:36 p.m., the Lincoln County 911 Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi truck in the area of Hwy. 51 and County Rd. K near Irma.
Upon arrival, it was found that the occupants of the passenger vehicle had sustained injuries that appeared to not be life threatening.
It was determined that the semi truck was westbound on County Rd. K when it traveled through the intersection of Hwy. 51, causing the northbound passenger car to collide with the semi.
The occupants of the passenger vehicle were transported by ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The driver of the semi truck, which was hauling sand, did not claim any injury.
Mechanical malfunction on the semi is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene of the crash by Wisconsin State Patrol, Merrill EMS, Town of Russell Fire Department and the Lincoln County Highway Department. The crash remains under investigation.
