The Lincoln County Fair has a lot to offer through Sunday.
The Fair Association has signed a three-year deal with a new carnival provider, Mr. Ed’s Magical Midway. Mr Ed’s has brought a lot of newer rides to the fair. The company also brings a semi load of landscaping items and flowers to every fair they visit. Rides open at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Unlimited wristbands will be honored from 12-5 p.m. every day, Thursday through Sunday. There will also be a moonlight madness special on Saturday night from 5-10 p.m.
Mr. Ed’s wanted to work with Lincoln County, so to sweeten the deal they offered some money upfront. The fair has invested that money into daily performances by Bruno’s Tigers. The tiger show will put on free performances Thursday at 5 and 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 2:30, 5:30 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at noon and 2:30 p.m.
The fairgrounds also features 14 wheelbarrow gardens created by after school programs in Lincoln County. At the end of the summer, the wheelbarrows will be collected and ready to be replanted next spring.
This year’s fair will also feature the first annual Outhouse Races on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the east end of the fairgrounds. Several teams have already signed up for the fun competition which involves an outhouse on wheels, three people pushing it and one riding in it. Competitors pay an entry fee and all the money goes back in place winnings.
A pedal tractor pull will be offered for children ages 5-12 on Saturday at 1 p.m. The tractors and a pulling sled will be provided and all children are encouraged to participate.
Artist Dave Fliss is doing free caricature drawings at the fair. A custom motorcycle built for the U.S. Army by Orange County Choppers is on display at the fair all week.
The Pagels Pub & Grub Entertainment Tent will offer live entertainment each night at 7:30 p.m., featuring Crystal and the Commotions on Thursday, Rabid Aardvarks on Friday and Geoff Landon & the Wolfpack on Saturday.
The Bone & Joint Centerstage tent also features live entertainment. Thursday offers Steve Szydel at 1 p.m. and Dave Fox & Foxfire Band at 6 p.m. Friday includes magic with Rick Allen, music by Ripple Effect and DJ Brian West. Saturday features Rick Allen, Ripple Effect, the 4-H Talent Show and DJ Robert Wood. Sunday brings a worship service with Sound Doctrine at 10:30 a.m. and polka music by the Polish Cowboys at 1 p.m.
Grandpa’s Farm petting zoo will be at the fair Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Also, butter carving contest will be held Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m.
As always, admission to the Lincoln County Fair is free. The only cost is to park on the grounds, which is $10 and two non-perishable food items for a season parking pass.
The youth and open class exhibition portion of the fair also remains the same, with entries up over last year. Exhibit judging will go on through Saturday.
