Students entering grades six through 11 for the upcoming school year getting their WIAA Sports Physicals at Ministry Medical Group in Merrill will benefit from additional evaluation and treatment this year.
Ministry Medical Group is partnering with Physical Therapists from Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center to offer an evaluation and consultation following the normal Sports Physical visit with the physician. Therapists will discuss and provide information on proper exercises warm up/cool down exercises, flexibility identification, range of motion exercises and a discussion on concussions and the importance of reporting any type of head injury.
“We think this is valuable information that participants and their families will find beneficial as they prepare for the upcoming school year,” said Mary Witte, director of diagnostic and therapeutic services at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center.
During designated Sports Physical dates and times, Ministry Medical Group offers these examinations for $25 with all proceeds donated back to the participant’s schools.
Over the past seven years, Ministry Medical Group’s Sports Physical Program has provided more than $25,000 to schools in Marathon and Lincoln counties.
WIAA Sports Physical appointments are available in Merrill during the Weeks of July 28-Aug. 8 during regular business hours. Ministry Medical Group’s Merrill clinic is located on the 4th Floor of Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, 601 S. Center Ave.
The physicals meet school and WIAA requirements, but are not intended to replace regular check-ups with your child’s physician. Students should dress in shorts and gym shoes and bring their WIAA sports card. A parent or guardian must accompany the athlete to complete the necessary paperwork.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 715-539-2350, or visit ministryhealth.org/sportsphysicals.
