Wild West Historic Pub Crawl

On Saturday, Aug. 9, the West Side Tavern Owners and Merrill Walks are sponsoring a pub crawl to benefit the Merrill Historical Society. This thirst-free adventure through Merrill’s historic West Side runs from 3-8 p.m. The ticket price is $20 which includes discounts for crawlers at all locations and a guided historical Lost Taverns Walk. All ticket sales benefit the Merrill Historical Society.
A Pub Crawl is similar to a poker run, but people walk between locations. The Wild West Historic Pub Crawl starts at the corner of Prospect Street and Grand Avenue in Merrill where participants can pick up their Crawler Card and discount wristband starting at 2:30 p.m. the day of the event. Advance tickets can be purchased at any of the participating locations as well as Merrill Historical Society, 100 E. Third St. in Merrill, and the Merrill Chamber of Commerce. Participating West Side taverns are Ballyhoos, Humphrey’s Pub, Johnny T’s, and S & S Bar.
Merrill’s West Side offers the perfect venue for an historic pub crawl with a group of taverns in buildings all well over 100 years old. Humphrey’s Pub, at 109 years old, is one of the young ones in the group. To highlight some of the history behind the taverns, Merrill Historical Society members will be working with the tavern owners to provide an informative poster at each location.
Rest assured, neither crawling nor drinking is required on a pub crawl. Your ticket guarantees you a spot at the event, lets you hear great stories on an included guided walk, and provides you with a wristband to identify you as a “crawler” for the duration of the event. The ticket price does not include drinks, but your wristband will entitle you to discounts at each location. Each tavern is setting its own specials.
Participants can move from location to location at their own speed – there will not be a set order in which to visit the establishments. To encourage a visit to each tavern, each crawler will be given a Crawler Card. Completed Crawler Cards can be turned in for prize drawings which will be held at the conclusion of the event at Ballyhoos.
