No, we’re not talking about the famous event in Madison. We’re talking about the Merrill City Band and the cannon that will appear in Normal Park on Wednesday, June 25.
“Shiver Me Timbers – Music and Mayhem,” will open the concert season. Pirate food, fun, and festivities begin at 5 p.m., with the concert to get underway at 7 p.m. The band will be dressed in pirate attire and audience members are urged to do the same. There are prizes for best dressed little pirates and for one big pirate as well. More information to come, so stay tuned.
Residents in close proximity to Normal Park should expect numerous loud cannon shots from 5-8:30 p.m. Band director Cap’n Darby Deadbones says “Aaaaaarrrrr, Mateys, please don’t be callin’ th’ officers when ye hear th’ booms. We be just havin’ a bit ‘o fun.”
