Joanne M. Schlag, age 78, of Merrill, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at her home.
Joanne was born April 2, 1936, in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Walter and Florence (Combs) Rusch. She married Roger D. Schlag on Sept. 20, 1958, and he preceded her in death June 13, 1984. Joanne was a homemaker, and most recently she was a volunteer Foster Grandparent at Lincoln Hills School. Joanne enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Joanne is survived by two daughters, Linda (Terry) Seidler, and Beth (Kevin) Krueger, both of Merrill; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Peggy, Brenda, and Lisa; and two brothers, Walter (Greta) Rusch, and Harold (Joyce) Rusch, both of Merrill. Besides her parents and husband, Joanne is preceded in death by her son, Brian Schlag, this past April.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Timothy Coppersmith will officiate. Burial will follow in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery South, Town of Maine. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
