The North Central Community Chapter of the American Red Cross Western Wisconsin Region announces Wendy Savage as its new Community Chapter Executive. Wendy will be actively managing and working with staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors on strengthening local relationships, supporting programs that fulfill the mission of the Red Cross, and working directly with the Board Chair, local business leaders, and individuals to successfully grow and develop the board, enhance volunteer capacity, and support the many services the Red Cross proudly provides throughout 12 counties in North Central Wisconsin.
In Wendy’s previous role as the Chapter’s Fund Development Major Gifts Officer, Wendy focused on securing relationships with individuals and corporations such as Ministry Health, Liberty Mutual, Delta Dental and Travel Guard. She was instrumental in expanding the partnership with The Grainger Foundation, Ghidorzi Company, and B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation to help support and sponsor the 2nd Annual Statewide Disaster Training Conference that was held in Wausau last October.
Wendy, a longtime Merrill resident, first joined the Red Cross in 2010 and reflects on her first few weeks, “I started working with the Red Cross one week before the Haiti earthquake struck. It taught me a lot about what the Red Cross is all about and the work the volunteers do. It makes me really proud to be a part of this organization.” Wendy has also seen firsthand the work volunteers do in North Central Wisconsin communities. She has responded to numerous home fires and also assisted with Red Cross relief efforts following the Merrill tornadoes that struck in 2011.
Wendy is looking forward to working with the local Board of Directors, “They are our eyes and ears. Working closely with the Board helps us deliver mission related services where they are most needed and they also help us raise funds to support those services.” She will continue to engage the many generous people who support the Red Cross during times of disasters and help introduce people to what the North Central Wisconsin Chapter does every day.
