The college financial aid process does not need to be a daunting task. Free financial aid assistance will be available for Wisconsin’s college-bound students as part of College Goal Wisconsin, a state-wide event that will be held at 29 locations later this month to assist students planning to attend college in the fall of 2014.
Northcentral Technical College (NTC) will play host to a College Goal Wisconsin session at the Wausau campus on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Wisconsin Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators, is designed to address the needs of low-income and first-generation college students who are completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Federal Government requires a FAFSA from all students seeking financial aid, including grants and loans, to attend and pay for college.
Dependent students, those born after Jan. 1, 1991, should bring a parent along with completed federal income tax returns for 2013 (if filing) and W2 statements. If a parent isn’t available, students are still encouraged to attend.
In 2013, College Goal Wisconsin assisted 1,145 college-bound students/families, with eight $1,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships being distributed state-wide during the events. This year, there will be winners drawn for eight $1,000 scholarships, four $500 scholarships and seventeen $250 scholarships.
For more information regarding this event and materials needed to complete the FAFSA, visitwww.collegegoalwi.org.
