Lavine L. Krause, age 88, of the Town of Corning, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Lavine was born May 2, 1925, in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Fellbaum) Grunenwald. She married Lorenz R. Krause on June 9, 1945, in the Town of Maine. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2005.
Lavine was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, helping on the farm, and polka music. Lavine and her late husband were charter members of the Copper River Midnight Riders Snowmobile Club. She was currently a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill.
Survivors include her sons, Dale Krause, and Gene (Claudia “Sam”) Krause, both of Merrill; one grandson, Andrew Krause, Merrill; two sisters, Phyllis (Clarence) Kostecki, Wausau, and Jeanette (Al) Schmolze, White Bear Lake, MN; and three brothers, Duane (Carol) Grunenwald and Lavern (Marilyn) Grunenwald, both of Wausau, and Lloyd Grunenwald, Chicago. Besides her parents, Lavine is preceded in death by a son, Lee Krause, in 1963; and four brothers, Floyd, Douglas, Wilbert, and Eugene.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
