Reprise meets for the Hatchet swimmers last week turned out nearly exactly the way their December meets did.
Tomahawk was edged 89-73 by Rhinelander on Thursday after hanging within 88-72 in December, and topped 104-62 by Lakeland on Tuesday after falling 104-65 initially.
“It was pretty much the same, however there were some great close races, and the Hatchets had some awesome finishes to make a good final home meet of the season for us,” THS coach Marion Kohl said of the Hodag meet. “The Hatchet swimmers again took second and third place in all three of the relay events, telling us that the depth on our team is solid compared to the other GNC teams.”
The Hatchets swept the 100 brea with Hunter Langdon (1:20.16), Kameron Knipfer (1:20.53) and Parker Knipfer (1:21.21). Tomahawk also pulled wins with: Aslan Thinkoh?kaew (100 fly, 1:03.30/100 back, 1:02.74); Nathan Goehe (500 free, 6:18.09, a 36-second win); Logan Loretz (100 free, :57.45).
Other runner-up finishes came from: Goehe (200 free, 2:15.25); Loretz (200 IM, 2:38.61); the 200 medley (Thinkoh?kaew, K. Knipfer, Loretz, P.J. Ehn, 1:59.87); the 200 free (Langdon, Wyatt Schumitsch, Josh Phillips, Goehe, 1:50.53); and the 400 free (Loretz, Ehn, Goehe, Thinkohkaew, 4:01.91).
T-Bird rerun
Lakeland put up an identical score to the previous meet.
“We had hoped to keep them under 100 points as we did last week with Shawano, but the stress of finals week for the boys and the added meet this week took that goal out of the running tonight,” Kohl said.
Thinkohkaew cut off a half-second in the 100 back for a new school record of 1:02.11 and the only win.
Placing second were: Loretz (100 free, :58.06/ 200 IM, 2:41.23); Thinkohkaew (100 fly, 1:04.01); Goehe (500 free, 6:18.21); K. Knipfer (100 brea, 1:19.71); the 200 medley (Thinkohkaew, Langdon, Loretz, Ehn, 2:00.72); the 200 free (Langdon, Peyton Hamm, Schumitsch, Ehn, 1:54.36); and the 400 free (Ehn, Goehe, Loretz , Thinkoh?kaew swam a total 4:16.04).
