Richard G. Hagedorn, Jr., age 58, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on April 19, 1955, in Merrill, the son of Richard Sr. and Dolores (Wegner) Hagedorn. He married Joan Robinson on Sept. 15, 1979, in Monona. Richard loved playing cards. He loved to dance and loved music, having played in the family band. Richard and Joan were in The New College Singers at MATC and traveled to Romania with the choir. He was an avid sports fan of all Wisconsin teams. Richard retired from National Guardian Life Insurance Co. He served in the National Guard and Army Reserves for 15 years. Richard was a loving husband and father and was an inspiration to many. He is survived by his wife, Joan; one son, Richard, III. (Hannah); his father, Richard, Sr.; brothers, Mark and Daniel; one sister, Nancy (Phil) Hagedorn Woller; special aunt and uncle, Lorraine and Gerald Muschinske; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by, his mother, Dolores. A Funeral Service will be held, at WAID FUNERAL HOME, 301 S. Eagle Drive, Merrill, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 with Pastor Jeff Martinson presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
