Helen B. Swope, age 95, of Merrill, died Nov. 30, 2013 in Aspirus Hospice Care at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Helen was born March 25, 1918, in Merrill, daughter of the late Ella (Seehafer) Uttech and Herman Uttech. On Aug. 17, 1937, she married John W. Swope in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1983.
Helen worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, where after 29 years she retired. Among her favorite pastimes were sewing, growing flowers, crafts and reading. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith Wissen, Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Jack (Katey Hull) Swope, Merrill, and James (Denise) Swope, Palm Bay, FL; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John; and two sisters, Elaine Ruples and Lois Shearer.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Crest Nursing Home and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for the wonderful care given to Helen during her stay there.

Private services will be held at a later date. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
