Patricia A. Kanitz

Patricia A. Kanitz, age 75, died on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She resided in Merrill.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1938 to Herman Garatman Jr. and Lena Schulz. On April 26, 1961, she married Lavern Kanitz at St. Stephens Church in Merrill.
Patricia worked at the Oconomowoc Canning Company. When she wasn’t working, Patricia loved to sit outside when the weather was nice and watch birds. She also enjoyed going fishing. When she wasn’t outside, she would watch old movies and listen to country music, especially Conway Twitty. Patricia enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers with her children. She looked forward to going out to eat on Friday nights. She enjoyed going to Mackinaw Island, Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone Park. Patricia also visited the Grand Ol Opry.
Survivors include three sons, Vern Kanitz, Merrill, Jeff Kanitz, Merrill, and Jim Kanitz, Wausau; daughter Lori (William) Koepke of Merrill; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sisters Rose Ludtke of Merrill and Bertha Kanitz of Merrill. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lavern; sister Viola Fredrick of Merrill; brother Herman Garatman III of Merrill.
A memorial service was held at the Waid Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 12, with Pastor Linda Kuhn officiating.
