Mark William Benson, 55, of Merrill, died Nov. 3, 2013, under the care of his family and hospice at his home.
Mark was born on April 3, 1958, in Merrill, son of the late Norman Benson and Reta (Gano) Benson-Silas. He attended Merrill Senior High. Mark married Christine Bohman on July 28, 1979. She survives.
Mark enjoyed riding motorcycles and his snowmobile. He especially loved camping with his family. He enjoyed rummage sales and would often buy an item and refurbish it to sell it to someone else.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Benson, of Merrill; his daughter, Cindy (James) Cook, of Westville, FL; his son, Norman Benson, of Merrill; three grandchildren, Kristin, Jock, and Priscilla, all of Westville, FL; two sisters, Sherry (Daniel) Hodkiewicz and Shirley (Earl) Hinz, both of Merrill; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Swope, of Merrill; three sisters-in-law, Geri (John) Moore, of Tomahawk, Rhonda (Willie) Brietzke, of Merrill, and Mary Bohman, of Irma; and one brother-in-law, Jeff Swope, of Tomahawk. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Benson and Reta Benson-Silas; and a brother, Larry Benson.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Pine River Town Hall, N1647 Deer Run Ave., from 12-4 p.m. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
