WAID Funeral Home will sponsor a free Polka Worship Service on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Les & Jims Lincoln Lanes in Merrill. Pastor Greg Laska, will officiate a non-denominational service with an inspiring message to the community. Gene Lettau and the II Edition Polka Band from Wittenberg will be providing the sweet, harmonic melodies for your listening and dancing pleasure.
The service will begin at 4 p.m., with the music continuing until 8 p.m. An old fashion lunch will be served immediately following the service.
Event organizer Judy Plamann states, “We had sponsored our first polka worship service in August of 2011 and our turnout was tremendous! The community truly enjoyed the inspiring worship service, the old fashioned lunch and especially the toe tapping music of the II Edition Polka Band.”
The collection money will be used to sponsor a Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington DC for a local veteran. There will also be a collection for non perishable food items to assist in replenishing our local food pantry. Plamann says, “We hope you will be able to attend and join us in celebrating, ‘Live for the Day.’ Our daily lives are filled with so many challenges and difficulties that it brings joy to our hearts to know that we from Waid are able to enlighten a small part of others lives!”
