Earl E. Koehler
Earl E. Koehler, age 90, of Merrill, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
Earl was born September 28, 1922, in Merrill, son of the late Arthur and Hazel (Dereg) Koehler. He married Mardell Fehrmann on April 4, 1945, in Laredo, Texas. She survives. Earl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in WWII, flying 34 missions over Europe during his deployment. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Earl was a former employee at Livingston’s Department Store, Merrill as a carpet salesman, and then worked at Morley-Murphy as a flooring wholesaler for 25 years. Earl enjoyed bowling in his early years, golfing, and spending 25 winters in Florida with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Mardell Koehler, of Merrill; one daughter, Earlene (Gary) Lipowski, Gainesville, Florida; one son, Jon (Susan) Koehler, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Scott (Lori) Koehler, of Houston, Texas, Brian (Sarah) Koehler, of Seattle, Washington, Cathy (Don) Bernard, of Monona, Wisconsin, and Steve (Nicole) Lipowski, of Wausau; ten great-grandchildren, Luke, Annie, Jane, Katie, Courtney, Lauren, Kendall, Braeden, Andrew, and Natalie; and one sister, Monica Graebel, of Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Hazel; and one sister, Phyllis Kunde.
The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum, with graveside military rites conducted by the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday all at the funeral home. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
