Letters to the Editor, 8-21-13 edition

Dear Editor,
My wife Cindy and I had the pleasure of hosting a get-together for a volunteer group from our church a couple of weeks ago. This committee is a group of volunteers who regularly clean and maintain the medical equipment in the St. Stephens loan closet, so we thought it would be clever to mark our driveway with a wheelchair that had just been donated to the loan closet, with a balloon tied to it. The wheelchair had a broken wheel.
Well, by the time we got around to picking up the wheelchair post-party, we discovered it had been taken. Our only real concern about the missing chair is that if someone needed a wheelchair, the one taken was broken. If the person who took the chair would like to run it by St. Stephens, we would be happy to repair and clean the wheelchair for them to use. It could be that they could find a wheelchair in our supply that would fit them and their needs better – we would be happy to loan them the wheelchair that fits them best. Our loan closet is free and open to the community. No payment of any kind is required. There is no limit on how long equipment can be taken out.
If anyone in the community needs medical equipment (walkers, canes, wheelchairs and more) they’re free to give us a call, too. St Stephens; phone number is 715-536-7322 and the office is open for assistance 8-4:30 M-Th, Fri 8-1 (summer) or 8-4:30 (rest of the year).
Best of health to the person who needed the chair.
