DAT Bar is bringing national recording and touring blues artist Nick Moss to Merrill on Friday, Aug. 9.
The Nick Moss Band will be performing as part of DAT Bar’s “Backyard BBQ Block Party,” which starts at 6 p.m. Acoustic rock artist Jerry Duginski will warm up the crowd prior to Moss hitting the stage.
Through a connection with the band, DAT Bar owner Dennis Fick was able to snag the Chicago blues artist on his way to a weekend gig at the Bayfront Bluesfest in Duluth.
“I’m trying to do something different again,” Fick said, “bringing in somebody that you normally wouldn’t get to see in Merrill.”
Moss, who has been recording and touring for over 10 years, has 16 Blues Music Award nominations to his credit since his first nomination for “Best New Artist Debut” in 2003. This year, his ninth release earned a nomination for “Best Blues Rock Album.” One of his albums has been listed by Blues Revue Magazine as among the top 25 of the decade.
Duginski, of Merrill, has received high praise himself, being nominated for a 2013 Wisconsin Area Music Industry People’s Choice award.
The Backyard BBQ Block Party will feature food from Big Hass BBQ, including ribs, fish tacos and more.
