Alfred A. Beilke

Alfred A. Beilke, age 102, of Merrill, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Bell Tower Residence under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice.
He was born Oct. 5, 1910 in the Town of Maine to the late Albert & Marie (Tesch) Beilke. On April 6, 1940, he and Leona Maaser were united in marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Irma. She preceded him in death Aug. 1, 1964.
Alfred was a farmer and construction worker before working as a custodian for the Wausau School District. He worked as a night watchman at Weinbrenner Shoe Company after his retirement. Alfred was very good at many things and was able to fix anything – whether it needed it or not! He liked to “tinker” and enjoyed being busy with mechanical work. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his children: James (Phyllis) Beilke, Merrill, Allan (Hulda) Beilke, Merrill, and Karen (Frieder) Schoepfer, Neuenbuerg, Germany; nine grandchildren: Lisa Beilke, Michael Beilke, Dan Beilke, Paul Beilke, Bradley Beilke, Andrew Beilke, Heidi Schoepfer, Timm Schoepfer and Johannes Schoepfer; nine great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Kaitlyn, Marissa, Logan, Natasha, Benjamin, Alyson, Paula and Niklas; and sister-in-law: Elvera Beilke, Merrill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona in 1964; son, David Beilke in 1984; two brothers, Walter Beilke and Hugo Beilke; and two sisters, Martha Brandenburg and Linda Buzza.
Services were held Sunday, July 21, at Faith Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Kevin Hoogland officiated. Burial was held Monday, July 22, at Maple Grove Cemetery. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
